The 500th anniversary
of the Protestant Reformation

The 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation is just around the corner!
Tradition ascribes the date of October 31, 1517 as the beginning of the Reformation.
On October 31, 2017, many in Germany and around the world will mark 500 years
since this event that permanently changed the face and course of Christianity.

We Pray for a healed, mature,
united Church

ways to connect

We share a common sense that the Lord
of the Church is leading us to:

+ Celebrate the gifts of the Reformation

+ Celebrate also the treasures of the
   Western and Eastern Churches which
   preceded the Reformation and continue
   to reside in those Churches

+ Grieve the divisions that have fragmented
   the Body of Christ

+ Honor the church traditions that are
   different from our own

+ Honor our own church traditions

+ Speak truthfully of the wrongs of our own
   church tradition

+ Own the implications of Christ's prayer:
   "That they may all be one"

+ Bring to a hurting world a newfound
   knowledge of God's power for
   reconciliation

+ Pray for Jesus to return to a healed,
mature, united Church
